Security sources said on Friday that drones were intercepted near Rawalpindi, and the airspace was reopened after authorities brought down two rudimentary drones at separate locations adjacent to the city using electronic countermeasures.
The sources said the incident caused no damage or casualties. They added that authorities temporarily closed the airspace as a precaution, then reopened it.

Officials reported no injuries or property damage. After the precautionary airspace closure, authorities reopened the airspace once the situation stabilised.

Earlier, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) posted on X that Islamabad International Airport had experienced a “brief operational adjustment.” The post was later deleted.
The statement followed reports from multiple media outlets claiming that Islamabad International Airport had closed for flights.
In a subsequent statement, the PAA called the circulating reports about the closure of Islamabad’s airspace “baseless.” The authority said flight operations at Islamabad International Airport continued without interruption and that flights were operating according to schedule.
