KARACHI, Sindh: Police arrested three suspects in the Dr Akash murder case after the young doctor was shot dead during a robbery near Teen Talwar in Clifton, officials said Wednesday.
South Deputy Inspector General Asad Raza said the suspects were arrested within the jurisdiction of the Defence police station.
The 28-year-old doctor was killed on Monday during a robbery outside a private bank near Teen Talwar, according to police. Dr Akash Kumar worked at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
DIG Raza said the three suspects arrived on two motorcycles to carry out the robbery. He said police obtained details of the incident within 24 hours and completed the arrests over the next 36 hours.
The South DIG said one suspect allegedly conducted reconnaissance before the robbery and passed information to his accomplices.
He said police reviewed more than 100 CCTV recordings during the investigation. Police also recovered part of the stolen money from the suspects, according to the official statement.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho said that police had identified two more suspects and would arrest them soon. He said CCTV footage played a key role in the investigation.
Odho said the first phase of the Safe City project had been completed with about 1,150 cameras installed. He said the second phase was about 90% complete.
The Sindh police chief said street crime in Sindh dropped 11.8% during the first six months of the year.
