A DoorDash robot incident in Arizona raised safety concerns after the company’s autonomous delivery machine entered an active police scene in Chandler on June 15.
Local outlet 12 News reported that police were investigating a possible weapons-related incident when the fully electric robot, known as Dot, approached the restricted area.
The robot drove through the scene despite police warnings and a law-enforcement perimeter.

No DoorDash operator was present at the location. Police contacted the company, which sent a technician to remove Dot from the scene. The robot was later taken away in a box truck.
A DoorDash spokesperson defended the robot’s response. The spokesperson said Dot “stopped and waited safely while authorities managed the scene.”
