In a shocking medical incident, a team of doctors successfully extracted a live eel measuring over 30 centimetres from a man’s abdomen. The case emerged from Quang Ninh province in northern Vietnam.
A 34-year-old patient sought medical attention on March 20, suffering from severe abdominal pain caused by intestinal perforations, a critical condition characterized by damage to the abdominal lining.
Diagnostic imaging revealed an unidentified, moving object within the patient, prompting an immediate surgical intervention.
Surgeons encountered a live, slimy eel during the procedure, an astonishing and unprecedented discovery. The removal of the eel through surgery was delicate yet successful.
Post-operation, the patient reported only minor discomfort and showed signs of recovery.
The exact manner in which the eel entered the man’s abdomen remains unclear. Nonetheless, medical professionals speculate that the creature entered through the rectum, causing internal damage.
The surgical team noted this case as exceptionally rare, particularly due to the eel’s survival within the human body.
