A doctor found dead in a car at Lahore Children’s Hospital has triggered an official inquiry after the body of Dr Ahmad Latif was discovered in a vehicle parked on the hospital premises.
According to the sources, Dr Latif was associated with the hospital’s haematology department. His car had reportedly been parked in the hospital’s parking lot for 4 days before anyone checked it.
Sources said certain drugs were recovered near the body, also stating that no immediate concerns were raised despite Dr Latif’s absence from duty for four consecutive days.
Following the incident, the hospital administration formed a four-member inquiry committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the death. The committee has been directed to submit its report within 24 hours.
Professor Dr Saima Farhan will head the inquiry committee. Its other members are Dr Ali Abuzar, Dr Hafiz Atif Nazir, and Dr Ayesha Khanam.
The committee will review the facts of the case and determine what happened in the days before the body was found. The hospital administration has not yet released further findings.
The case has raised concerns over how a staff member’s prolonged absence and an unattended vehicle in a hospital parking area went unnoticed for several days.
Those questions are likely to become a central part of the inquiry, especially as the administration moves to establish a timeline and the circumstances of Dr Latif’s death.
