Devara: Part 1, starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, successfully navigated the crucial Monday hurdle at the box office, evidencing its sustained appeal beyond its opening weekend.
After a strong start on September 27, the film’s revenue stood at ₹12.5 crore by Monday, as reported by Sacnilk. This figure represents a drop from the weekend’s high earnings of ₹38.2 crore on Saturday and ₹39.9 crore on Sunday, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹173.1 crore in four days.
Directed by Koratala Siva, “Devara: Part 1” showcases Jr NTR in dual roles as Devara and Varadha, with Janhvi Kapoor playing his love interest, Thangam, and Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist, Bhaira. The film also features notable performances from Shruti Marathe, Zarina Wahab, and Talluri Rameswari. The project is a collaboration between Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh praised the film’s performance over the weekend. On X (formerly Twitter), he commented, “STRONG WEEKEND… Jr NTR had to score impressive numbers after delivering a smash-hit [RRR], and Devara lives up to the mighty expectations, reaffirming the actor’s star-power.” Despite a subdued response to its Hindi version, “Devara” fared well, especially in mass circuits, while national chains picked up after a slow start on Friday morning.
Adarsh highlighted the potential boost in ticket sales that the upcoming Gandhi Jayanti holiday on Wednesday could bring. However, he emphasized that the film’s performance on Monday and Tuesday is crucial for maintaining its momentum.
“Devara: Part 1” unfolds in a post-independence era and centres on Devara’s dedication to safeguarding his community against evil forces, including his former friend turned enemy, Bhaira, who now plots to smuggle illegal weapons. Rejecting this criminal path, Devara turns vigilante, collaborating with the Indian Coast Guard. The drama intensifies when Bhaira deceives Devara’s son Varadha, prompting father and son to join forces against their shared adversary. The film also marks the Telugu debut of Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, heightening the anticipation for its release.
