Chinese AI startup DeepSeek will make its 75% price cut on DeepSeek V4-Pro permanent, keeping API prices at 1/4 their original level after the promotion ends.
DeepSeek’s official API pricing page states that V4-Pro pricing will be reduced to 1/4 of the original price after the 75% discount promotion ends on May 31, 2026, at 15:59 UTC.
The company cut V4-Pro API costs to between 0.025 yuan and 6 yuan per million tokens, depending on usage type, from 0.1 yuan to 24 yuan previously. A token is a unit of text processed by an AI model.
The company did not say whether the permanent cut was linked to the increased supply of Huawei’s Ascend 950 chips. DeepSeek earlier said V4-Pro pricing could fall sharply once Huawei Ascend 950 supernodes were deployed at scale in the second half of 2026.
DeepSeek said at launch that V4-Pro could cost up to 12 times as much as the less powerful V4-Flash due to constraints on high-end compute capacity, according to Tech Wire Asia.

Huawei’s AI chip sales have benefited from US export controls that limit Nvidia’s sales of its most advanced chips in China, although separate restrictions on chipmaking equipment have affected Huawei’s ability to scale Ascend production.
