A suspected Cyprus IVF donor mix-up may have affected at least 30 children conceived between 2012 and 2024.

According to a BBC investigation, most of the children are British. Half of the cases were linked to the Dogus IVF Centre in northern Cyprus.

Eleven children underwent commercial DNA testing. Results suggested ancestry from Turkey or nearby countries when parents had selected donors with different backgrounds.

One mother, identified as Rachel, chose a Danish sperm donor from Cryos International during treatment at Dogus in 2012. DNA testing later indicated that the selected donor was not the biological father of her son.

Cryos told the BBC it had no record of delivering sperm to Dogus. The sperm bank said it blacklisted the clinic in 2016 after raising concerns about a separate patient case.

The BBC also linked Dr Firdevs Uguz Tip to cases at Dogus and nine similar cases at two other clinics. Firdevs denied wrongdoing and said her current clinic, Miracle IVF, had followed the law.

Cryos has suspended work with Firdevs and Miracle IVF while authorities in northern Cyprus investigate.

The British Fertility Society told the BBC that the allegations suggested a wider systemic problem rather than an isolated error.
