On July 10, 2025, Curtis Campher made cricket history in Ireland by becoming the first male professional cricketer to take five wickets with five consecutive balls. This remarkable feat occurred during a domestic T20 Trophy match between the Munster Reds and the North-West Warriors in Dublin. The Munster Reds won the match by 100 runs.

Campher started in the 12th over. He bowled Jared Wilson out. Then, he trapped Graham Hume lbw. In the 14th over, he dismissed Andy McBrine for a hat-trick. Next, he removed Robbie Millar and Josh Wilson. Warriors fell from 87-5 to 88 all out. They chased 189.

Campher’s figures: 5/16 in 2.3 overs. He captained Munster Reds. “I wasn’t really sure what was happening,” he told Cricket Ireland. “I just stuck to my guns and kept it simple. Luckily, it worked.”

Zimbabwe’s Kelis Ndhlovu was the first to do this in women’s cricket. She achieved it in a 2024 under-19 T20 match. Campher’s feat is the first of its kind in men’s professional cricket.

This rare accomplishment highlights Campher’s talent. As an all-rounder, he strengthens Ireland’s squad. The match was in the Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy.

Campher, 26, hails from South Africa. He qualifies for Ireland via ancestry. He debuted internationally in 2020. Known for batting and medium-pace bowling, he has 50+ wickets in ODIs and T20Is.
