The Counter Terrorism Department of Sindh has termed a terror alert being circulated on social media through a Whatsapp message was fake.
In a message on Twitter, CTD SSP Omar Shahid Hamid urged social media users not to create a false sense of panic by spreading the “false” alert.
“A Whatsapp message circulating about an attack on Dolmen mall is false. Please don’t create a false sense of panic,” he tweeted.
His clarification came shortly after a fake alert was shared on social media forum, claiming an intelligence report was sent to Sindh Police about two vehicles carrying explosives.
It said that terrorists intend to target an upscale Karachi shopping mall and a hotel.
