Portuguese television presenter Cristina Ferreira claimed Cristiano Ronaldo’s family learned of his wedding to Georgina Rodríguez only 30 seconds beforehand. The family has not confirmed her account.
Ferreira made the claim during TVI’s Dois às 10 programme. She said the absence of Ronaldo’s relatives from the ceremony could create problems within the family.
Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, and his siblings Hugo, Elma and Katia did not attend, according to The Sun’s report. Their absence prompted speculation, but none publicly alleged a family dispute.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez married on August 11 in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal. The footballer’s public relations team told the Associated Press that their five children attended the event.
Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias later published a copy of the marriage certificate, according to international reports. The document listed four witnesses at the ceremony.
Dolores and Katia subsequently posted heart emojis in response to the couple’s wedding announcement. Neither Ronaldo nor Rodríguez had publicly addressed Ferreira’s claim as of August 16.
