General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), addressed the attendees of the Azadi Parade at Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in Kakul, commemorating 76 years of Pakistan’s independence.
He began his speech by commending the tradition of the impressive parade at PMA and emphasized the resilience of Pakistan in the face of external and internal challenges. General Munir staunchly believed that no force could disrupt the unity between the military and the nation.
He commented, “During these challenging times marked by geo-political conflicts and power struggles, Pakistan remains unfazed. Our military and nation stand strong, dedicated to preserving our sovereignty.”
Reassurance to the Nation and Kashmir
Underscoring the nation’s strength, the COAS pointed out Pakistan’s large, vibrant population, predominantly of ambitious youth. He urged them to ignore the discouraging propaganda and recall the numerous challenges Pakistan has overcome since its inception.
He reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Pakistani military and the nation for the Kashmiris. Drawing parallels between Pakistan’s freedom and the ongoing struggle in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), he stressed the importance of international acknowledgement of the Kashmiri plight.
Regional Relationships and Future Aspirations
Speaking on regional affairs, Gen Munir expressed concerns about India’s stance, identifying it as a potential threat to regional peace. Emphasizing Pakistan’s hard-fought freedom, he warned against any hostile intent.
On a more collaborative note, the COAS highlighted Pakistan’s strengthening ties with longstanding allies such as China, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkiye, Qatar, and Iran. He envisioned a brighter future for Pakistan, rooted in unity and determination.
Addressing the Afghan nationals, he expressed hope for reciprocation of the hospitality Pakistan has shown them over the years. Lastly, he urged everyone to prioritize their Pakistani identity, concluding with the profound sentiment, “If there is Pakistan, then we exist!”
