COAS confers death sentences of 12 ‘hardcore militants’

Army chief General Raheel Sharif (COAS) confirmed death sentences of 12 “hardcore militants”.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the militants were involved in committing heinous crimes related to terrorism, i.e. killing of civilians, attacks on armed forces and destruction of schools and communication infrastructure.

All culprits were tried in the military courts after which General Raheel finalised the death sentences

1. Muhammad Qayyum Bacha S/O Mian Said Ghani.  

The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in slaughter of officers and soldiers. He also destroyed a Girls Primary School and a Basic Health Unit by planting explosives. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 4 charges and awarded death sentence.

2. Muhammad Asif S/O Anwar Hussain (Convict Number 1), Shahadat Hussain S/O Anwar Hussain (Convict Number 2) and Yasin S/O Muhammad Yar Hussain (Convict Number 3).

These three convicts were active members of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. They were involved in killing of civilians and attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in death of civilians. They were also in possession of fire arms and explosives. Convict number 1 and 2 were tried on 5 charges whereas convict number 3 was tried on 2 charges. All have been awarded death sentences.

3.  Muhammad Tayyab S/O Ameer Zada.    

The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of soldiers and civilians. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

4. Said Akbar S/O Liber Khan.  

The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in injuries and death of soldiers. He was also in possession of explosives. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 2 charges and awarded death sentence.

5.    Muhammd Ayaz S/O Muhammad Jan. 

The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of soldier. He was also in possession of explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 2 charges and awarded death sentence.

6. Barkat Ali S/O Abdul Ghaffar.

The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in killing of civilian and was also in possession of fire arms and explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

7. Aziz Ur Rehman S/O Abdul Jalal.  

The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in death of Police Constable. He was also involved in destruction of shops by planting improvised explosive devices and was also in possession of explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

8. Hussan Dar S/O Muhammad Raheem.

The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in killing of civilian and attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in death of Police Constables. He was also in possession of explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.

9. Ishaq S/O Abdul Hai.    

The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan and Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in death of a Junior Commissioned Officer and injuries to police constable. He was also in possession of explosives.  The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 2 charges and awarded death sentence.

10. Behram Sher S/O Khairan.

The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan as well as destruction of a Girls Primary School which resulted in injuries and death of soldiers. He was also in possession of explosives.  The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on 3 charges and awarded death sentence.
