Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah immediately appointed 180 headmasters of schools who got selected from Union Council of Sukkur.

While addressing a meeting regarding reforms in education department, he said teachers should be appointed in the UCs relevant to the UCs from where they got selected.

Education department has been divided into two sections — school and college/ technical education. The meeting has decided to collect school data at UC level regarding number of teachers, number of students and number of non-viable schools.

The minister directed if one school had more than needed teachers they should be sent to other schools.

He has directed to pay special attention towards teacher training.

The minister also formulated a committee comprising relevant MNAs, MPAs and district council chairmen to run schools properly and fulfill their needs.

“I want improvement in primary and secondary education at every cost,” he said adding that he himself would visit schools as well.

This should be noted that interior Sindh has been famous for ‘ghost’ teachers, who take their salaries but do not attend schools.

He said he wanted to hear the voice that schools were being run in interior Sindh and urban areas as well and children were given free books.

The CM said Rs300 million were allotted for repairing of primary schools, Rs5500m for seconday schools and Rs300m for colleges. Schools should be properly maintained.

He also demanded survey report on currently enrolled and enrolment target of schools and what measures were being taken to meet the targets.

Murad Shah decided to render his powers of transfer/ posting of BPS-20 teachers and taking disciplinary action against them to education minister.

“Every MPA should help the government in running educational institutes,” he said.
