Actor and comedian Christy Knowings has died at 46 after an asthma attack led to brain damage, according to a family member who spoke with TMZ.
Knowings suffered the attack on Friday, August 7. She was hospitalised and placed on life support before her family decided to remove it on Tuesday, August 11, the relative said. She died later that night at a Los Angeles-area hospital.
Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced Knowings’ death on Facebook on August 12.
Knowings joined Nickelodeon sketch-comedy series “All That” in 1997 after appearing in “And Now This,” a Rosie O’Donnell-produced comedy special. She remained a main cast member from Seasons 4 through 6 and later returned as a guest in Season 10.
Her recurring roles included Jessica in the “Whateverrr!!!” sketch alongside actor Amanda Bynes, as well as Penny Lane and Lieutenant Fondue.
Knowings later appeared in three episodes of “Sesame Street” between 2008 and 2011 with her twin brother, actor Chris Knowings. She returned briefly to performing in 2020 with the folk single “To the World.”
