NEW YORK: Actor Chrissy Metz said on NBC’s “Today” on Aug. 10 that she began using GLP-1 medication after years of scepticism, citing perimenopause and family health concerns.
Metz said her doctor and medical team believed the treatment could benefit her. She did not identify the medication or disclose when she began taking it during the NBC interview.
The “This Is Us” star credited the treatment with improving her energy, inflammation and overall health. She presented those effects as her personal experience and said GLP-1 medications affect people differently.
Metz said the medication forms part of a broader lifestyle change that includes exercise and strength training. She rejected the idea that treatment was “a magic wand” or an easy option.

The actor said her routine helps her manage eight Broadway performances each week. She currently plays Angélique in the musical “& Juliet.”
