China expressed grave concerns over the recent terrorist attack targeting Chinese engineers in Gwadar, Balochistan. China reiterated its firm stance, asserting that any efforts to undermine the ongoing China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and the robust China-Pakistan friendship will be futile.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin emphasized China’s commitment to collaborating with Pakistan in actively countering terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of Chinese personnel and projects within Pakistan.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that a day prior, security forces had neutralized two terrorists during a confrontation in Gwadar.

Wenbin, during a briefing at the International Press Center (IPC), clarified that efforts to destabilize the China-Pakistan bond and impede the progress of CPEC are bound to fail. He provided specifics of the August 13th incident, stating a Chinese engineers’ convoy faced roadside bombings and gunfire. Fortunately, the attack resulted in no Chinese casualties.

Strongly denouncing the attacks, Beijing has urged Islamabad to bring those responsible to justice. In light of the incident, the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Pakistan have advised Chinese individuals and entities in Pakistan to heighten their vigilance, enhance security measures, and remain updated on the security landscape to ensure their safety.

Wenbin reiterated China’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with Pakistan to safeguard against potential threats and prioritise the safety of Chinese entities.
