Beijing: China-Cambodia ties were reinforced on Friday, June 26, 2026, as President Xi Jinping met Cambodian People’s Party President and Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen in Beijing.
Xi said China was willing to work with Cambodia to safeguard peace, seek development and promote prosperity, according to Xinhua.
He congratulated the Cambodian People’s Party on its 75th founding anniversary. Xi said he hoped Cambodia would achieve new milestones in national development under the party’s leadership.
Xi said China has always treated Cambodia as a priority in its neighbourhood diplomacy. He said Beijing supports Cambodia in safeguarding sovereignty, security and its chosen development path.
The Chinese president called for stronger strategic mutual trust and deeper exchanges between the Communist Party of China and the Cambodian People’s Party.
He also urged progress on the Industrial Development Corridor and the Fish and Rice Corridor. Xi said both sides should use the China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement to deliver more benefits for people’s livelihoods.
Xi said China was willing to build a security partnership with Cambodia. He also called for continued joint action against telecom fraud.
Hun Sen said Cambodia remained firm in its friendship with China. He said Phnom Penh upholds the one-China principle and opposes “Taiwan independence” separatist acts.

Hun Sen said Cambodia wanted to align its Pentagonal Strategy with the Belt and Road Initiative. He also cited cooperation in the economy, security, national defence and people-to-people exchanges.
The Cambodian side said it would work with China to implement a new memorandum of understanding on exchanges and cooperation between the two parties.
