Singer Cher has filed for a conservatorship concerning her son’s estate, Elijah Blue Allman. According to documents obtained by Page Six, Cher has requested to become the sole conservator, citing concerns about Elijah’s ability to manage his finances and personal care due to alleged drug abuse issues.
In the legal filing, Cher, aged 77, expressed her inability to discuss the conservatorship with Elijah due to his current mental and physical health issues, which reportedly impair his decision-making capabilities.
The documents highlight Cher’s fears that any funds distributed to Elijah, who earns an annual income of $120,000 and is entitled to regular distributions from a trust established by his father, musician Gregg Allman, would be misused for drugs. Cher also noted that Elijah, her youngest son at 47, reportedly has an estimated personal property value of $0.
Background and Upcoming Court Proceedings
This conservatorship request follows a reported incident three months prior, where Cher allegedly orchestrated an intervention to assist Elijah with his drug addiction.
The intervention involved removing him from a New York City hotel room where he attempted to reconcile with his estranged wife, Marieangela King. Cher’s actions were motivated by her concern for her son, who previously lived in a Beverly Hills residence without electricity. A court date for the conservatorship is scheduled for March 6, 2024. Cher, also the mother of Chaz Bono, has publicly spoken about her commitment to supporting her children in times of need, emphasizing the joys and challenges of motherhood.
