Actor Charlize Theron climbed a Times Square billboard in New York City on April 24 to promote her Netflix action thriller “Apex.”
Netflix said Theron scaled one of the film’s billboards at Times Square’s Pentacular, on the corner of 7th Avenue and 49th Street, for the film’s release.
Videos from the scene showed pedestrians stopping below the billboard and filming the climb on their phones.
Theron used a rope and safety equipment during the live promotion, which turned the Manhattan landmark into a real-time action scene.
“Apex,” starring Theron with Taron Egerton and Eric Bana, premiered on Netflix on April 24, according to Netflix.

In the film, Theron plays Sasha, a rock climber stranded in the Australian Outback while a serial killer, played by Egerton, pursues her.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Theron trained with professional climber Beth Rodden for the physically demanding role
