Karachi Police have registered a murder case following the tragic death of Naveed Khan, the CEO of a private software company, amid allegations of unpaid wages.
The incident occurred on Shahrah-e-Faisal, where an employee reportedly attacked Khan with a sharp object due to grievances over salary delays. The police have registered the case at the Tipu Sultan police station based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother.
Imtiaz Khan, the victim’s brother and manager at the same company, reported that the suspect, identified as Shoaib, entered Naveed Khan’s office during the evening. An altercation ensued, during which Shoaib allegedly used a sharp object to inflict fatal wounds on Naveed, who later succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.
Imtiaz recounted that Shoaib was only one month overdue on his salary, but the ferocity of the attack suggested premeditated intentions. He described his brother Naveed as a cheerful, devoted father of three, with his youngest child only ten days old at the time of the incident.
Imtiaz clarified that the CEO, Naveed Khan, did not directly handle salary disbursements as he and his brother were company employees, and its administrative departments managed their financial transactions. The family is now in their ancestral village, where they have laid Naveed Khan to rest.
Station House Officer (SHO) Tipu Sultan, Tariq Mahmood, reported that police apprehended Shoaib Khan at the scene and seized the weapon used in the attack. Shoaib had worked as a developer at the company for eight months.
During interrogation, he expressed urgent financial need due to his father’s illness and frustration over the HR and finance departments handling his salary. Mahmood noted that the company’s foreign ownership complicated direct salary transfers, resulting in a three-month delay in Shoaib’s salary payment of one and a half lakh rupees. The investigation continues to uncover further details of the case.
