ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) issued a 15-day notice on Friday to remove alleged unauthorized construction at Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence.
The Directorate of Building Control (City) issued the notice to the property’s legal owner and affixed it outside the G-6 residence.
CDA officials identified three alleged violations under the Islamabad Capital Territory Building Control Regulations 2020, amended in 2023. These include construction within mandatory open spaces, a guard post on CDA land and a generator occupying authority property.

According to CDA records, the owner submitted an affidavit on March 18, 2019, when obtaining a no-objection certificate (NOC).
The undertaking promised to remove setback violations within three months and comply with building regulations. However, the CDA maintained that the owner had failed to fulfil those commitments.
The authority directed the removal of the identified structures within 15 days, starting Friday. It warned that non-compliance could lead to sealing or demolition of the violations. Authorities could also initiate proceedings to cancel the property’s allotment.

Following the notice, Fazlur Rehman’s son, Maulana Asjad Mahmood, accused the authorities of political retaliation. Mahmood claimed the action followed complaints about alleged encroachments by a senior military official.
He accused the authorities of using underhanded tactics instead of addressing those complaints. Mahmood warned against turning political differences into personal revenge and urged JUI-F workers to remain vigilant.
