Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Wednesday authorized a salary increment for management positions MP-I, MP-II, and MP-III starting October 1.

An office memorandum from the Ministry of Finance details the following changes:

  • MP-I Scale:
  • Basic Pay: Increased from an earlier minimum of Rs433,950 per month to Rs629,230 and a maximum hike from Rs532,950 to Rs772,780.
  • House Rent: Adjusted to Rs146,450 per month at minimum and Rs205,900 as the maximum.
  • Utilities: Minimum set at Rs28,500 and maximum at Rs35,240 monthly.
  • MP-II Scale:
  • Basic Salary: Elevated to Rs421,100 per month at the maximum and Rs263,180 at the minimum.
  • MP-III Scale:
  • Basic Salary: Increased minimum salary to Rs184,230 and a maximum of Rs263,190. The memo also confirmed adjustments in utilities and house rent for this scale.

The cost for these officer salaries will come from the respective budgets of the divisions, departments, or organizations for FY 2023-24. Existing officers within the MP scales will automatically receive the adjusted MP package. An officer’s pay will match the revised pay scale’s corresponding stage, reflecting their previous salary. Extensions for MP scale contract holders depend on performance evaluations and requisite approvals.

Additional Provisions and Previous Policies

The transport facility’s monetization remains unchanged, with rates for MP-I at Rs95,910, MP-II at Rs77,430, and MP-III at Rs65,060 monthly. All other terms will follow the management’s existing guidelines. The Position Scales Policy 2020, released on June 22, 2020, via memorandum No.1/3/2020-E-6, maintains current facilities and perquisites for MP scale holders, including TA/DA, medical allowance, and gratuity.
