A new audio clip, allegedly featuring Bushra Bibi, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, and his lawyer Latif Khosa, has emerged on social media. The conversation suggests internal family tensions while Khan is in custody. The clip purportedly captures discussions about Khan’s sisters and their interactions with Khosa concerning a legal case.
The audio reportedly begins with Bushra Bibi reflecting on a past incident involving Imran Khan’s sisters discussing a case about Khan potentially being poisoned in Attock jail. Bushra Bibi had previously expressed concerns about Khan’s safety in prison, even penning a letter to the Punjab home secretary about the risk of poisoning and requesting his transfer to Adiala jail.
In the leaked audio, Bushra Bibi talks about delegating her legal matters to Khosa, indicating her trust in his handling her cases. She mentions her decision to Khan’s sisters, which led to a misunderstanding and allegations of Khosa’s misbehaviour.
Reactions to the Alleged Leak
Bushra Bibi narrates in the audio that Khan’s sisters accused Khosa of gross misconduct during a meeting at his office. This meeting was supposedly about a petition filed in the Islamabad High Court, which included concerns about Khan being poisoned. Bushra Bibi disapproved of the sisters’ decision to confront Khosa.
Khosa, on the call, refutes any claims of misbehaviour, asserting his professional conduct and explaining his stance to Khan’s sisters. He describes their repeated insistence as the root cause of the misunderstanding, which they perceived as misbehaviour.
Latif Khosa, responding to the audio leak, voiced his frustration over the invasion of privacy, emphasizing that such conversations between a client and a lawyer are confidential. He called for those responsible for the leak to be ashamed and questioned the integrity of leaking private conversations.
Justice Babar Sattar has reportedly ordered an investigation to uncover the source of the audio leak. Khosa reiterated the need for those behind such personal audio leaks to come forward and explain their actions to the court. The leak has sparked concerns about privacy and the ethical implications of sharing private communications.
