A Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officer assaulted a British citizen of Pakistani descent at Lahore Airport surfaced, prompting immediate administrative actions.
Malik Bilal, who had travelled from Dubai to Lahore, encountered issues at the immigration counter with Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Bilal, the officer on duty.
According to Malik Bilal’s written complaint to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), he could not display his e-visa due to his phone’s depleted battery. He requested the officer to retrieve the visa information using his passport number, which reportedly led to a disagreement, during which ASI Bilal allegedly punched Malik Bilal in the face and ear, resulting in bleeding.
In response to the complaint, the CAA has suspended ASI Bilal and initiated a formal inquiry. The CAA’s director-general has called for a comprehensive report on the incident to determine the appropriate course of action.
Simultaneously, Sarfraz Warik, the Director of FIA Lahore, has also responded by removing ASI Bilal from the immigration counter and setting up an inquiry team led by the Deputy Director. ASI Bilal has been asked to provide a written explanation for his actions.
Director Warik emphasized the agency’s commitment to ensuring that such mistreatment of citizens is not tolerated, underlining the importance of maintaining professional conduct and integrity within the FIA ranks.
