In a significant development in Bolivia, the government successfully foiled an attempted coup led by military forces.
The coup was orchestrated by hundreds of military personnel, led by Army Chief General Juan José Zúñiga, who utilized armoured vehicles to storm the governmental palace and other key sites. The incident began when armoured vehicles, directed by General Zúñiga, breached the premises of the governmental palace, an act that President Arce swiftly labelled as an attempted rebellion. However, the situation was quickly controlled as, within a few hours, the military was ordered to withdraw.
President Arce effectively managed the crisis by appointing a new army commander who ordered the troops to disengage. This command led to the rapid demobilization of the military forces, ending the uprising within three hours.
