A new Black Flag Resynced mod has restored unarmed combat on PC, allowing players to make Edward Kenway fight enemies without using swords.
Creator kamzik123 uploaded version 1.0 of the unofficial modification to Nexus Mods on August 7.
Players can activate the feature by equipping the Officer Small Swords in Edward’s inventory. The mod then enables unarmed fighting during regular gameplay.
However, its creator said combat finishers still use sword animations. Therefore, the modification does not fully recreate a dedicated set of unarmed finishing moves.
Installation requires players to copy the supplied DataPC_boot_patch_02.forge file into the game folder. The add-on is unavailable for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on July 9 for PC and current-generation consoles. The company rebuilt the 2013 pirate adventure with the latest Anvil engine.

The official feature list highlights new parrying, takedowns and quick-fire weapon moves. However, Ubisoft has not explained the absence of unrestricted unarmed combat.
