Bill Gates, the co-founder of Windows, has shared insights on the pervasive impact of artificial intelligence (AI) across various disciplines.
Gates’s views are highly regarded in the tech community. His latest reflections were detailed in his blog, “Gates Notes,” where he frequently discusses the potential and challenges of AI.
Gates predicts that AI will soon dominate numerous fields. Still, he also identifies a few jobs that will withstand the rise of this technology. The roles likely to endure the AI wave include positions in energy, biology, and the design and operation of AI tools.
He has been exploring these themes in his blog, analysing the benefits and risks associated with AI tools. One significant concern he highlights is the displacement of jobs by AI—a scenario that the International Monetary Forum also supports, predicting that 60% of jobs will be impacted by AI by 2025.
Despite these concerns, Gates is optimistic about AI’s role in enhancing various job functions and processes. However, he emphasizes that only a few job categories will remain “immune” to AI disruption. These include energy—and biology-related jobs and roles focused on AI tool development and management. Gates believes these fields’ unique demands and complexities will safeguard them from being supplanted by AI technology.
