KARACHI, Sindh: Euromoney has named BankIslami digital bank Pakistan’s Best Islamic Digital Bank, recognising the lender’s technology-led push into Shariah-compliant financial services.
The award marks BankIslami’s second consecutive year of recognition from Euromoney. The bank was previously named Best Islamic Bank in Pakistan, according to the statement.
BankIslami said it upgraded its core banking infrastructure to iMAL R-14 in early 2025. The bank said the centralised, API-enabled platform helped make more than 70% of customer interactions digital-first.
The bank also deployed artificial intelligence across internal functions. It said the move digitised a significant share of internal operations, workflows and communications to improve efficiency.
BankIslami said the launch of aik was a major milestone in its digital strategy. The bank described aik as Pakistan’s first fully digital Islamic banking platform for mobile-first, Shariah-conscious users.
BankIslami President and Chief Executive Officer Rizwan Ata said the bank’s digital transformation aimed to make Islamic banking “seamless and accessible” for customers.
Imran H Shaikh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BankIslami, said digital services were central to financial inclusion.
He said the bank would keep investing in digital channels to make Islamic banking easier to adopt.
The recognition comes as Islamic banks in Pakistan expand digital platforms to reach customers beyond traditional branches.
BankIslami said it would continue combining Shariah-compliant banking with modern financial technology.
