By court order, a Balochistan police team has arrived in Lahore to detain Imran Khan, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman.
A five-person team led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigations Nadeem had arrived in Lahore to arrest the PTI leader. The team comprises Deputy Superintendent of Police Abdul Sattar, a sub-inspector, and two other officers.
Several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 (PECA) had been filed against the PTI leader, prompting a local court in Quetta to issue an arrest warrant the day before.
The judge issued the arrest warrant and ordered the former prime minister to appear in court.
At the Quetta police station, a first information report (FIR) was filed against Khan for remarks he made during a speech on Sunday regarding state institutions and their officers.
The PTI chief was the subject of a complaint filed at the Bijli Road Police Station by Abdul Khalil Kakar. The FIR included Sections 153A, 124A, and 505 of the PPC and Section 20 of the PECA.
According to Kakar, the PTI leader’s statement attempted to undermine public tranquility and order.
Following the arrival of an Islamabad police team at the PTI leader’s Zaman Park residence to arrest in the Toshakhana case, the PTI leader criticized “state institutions” in his Sunday speech.
In a speech to party members and supporters who participated in the “Jail Bharo Tehreek” (movement for voluntary arrest), the deposed prime minister, who was removed from office in April of last year, vented his anger.
In his impassioned speech, the PTI chairman stated that he had never prostrated himself before a group or individual and would not permit the nation to do the same.
