Balochistan Coach Attack: 3 Dead, 7 Injured in Kalat District Shooting

On July 16, 2025, gunmen ambushed a passenger coach travelling from Karachi to Quetta near Niemurgh Cross in the Kalat district of Balochistan. The attack resulted in the deaths of three passengers and injuries to seven others.

According to local police. authorities have initiated an investigation into the motive behind the assault, amid ongoing safety concerns on the Karachi-Quetta highway. Shahid Rind, a spokesperson for the Balochistan government, confirmed the details and highlighted the prompt response efforts.

Unidentified armed men fired directly at the moving coach, causing immediate casualties. Police and rescue teams arrived promptly, transporting the injured to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Kalat for treatment. Security forces secured the area and initiated search operations in the surrounding regions.

Rind stated: “The injured receive medical assistance at DHQ Kalat. Security personnel control the location, and investigations proceed.” The attack highlights vulnerabilities in Balochistan’s sensitive districts, where violence disrupts travel.

Officials have not yet determined the motive. They continue a full probe to identify the attackers and prevent future incidents. This event adds to a pattern of highway violence, raising alarms for passenger safety.

The Balochistan coach attack highlights the urgent need for enhanced security on major routes. Authorities urge travellers to stay vigilant as the investigation unfolds.
