Marvel sent fans into overdrive after the Avengers Doomsday trailer CinemaCon 2026 reveal, teasing a massive multiverse battle led by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. The footage, unveiled at CinemaCon, reportedly brought together some of the biggest characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and hinted at one of the franchise’s biggest crossovers yet.
The trailer opens with Doctor Doom in a green hood and a metal mask as he prepares to invade the multiverse. It then shifts to Professor Xavier at the X-Mansion, where a flash of light signals an incoming threat. The footage reportedly packs in a series of major moments. Gambit is shown fighting Shang-Chi, while Mystique transforms into Yelena Belova, setting up an unusual Florence Pugh-versus-Florence Pugh confrontation.
Another standout sequence shows Thor facing Doctor Doom. However, Doom appears to overpower him by catching Mjolnir with his bare hands, underlining just how dangerous the new villain could be. The film’s scope appears even bigger as the trailer brings together the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts. It also teases a tense confrontation between Wakanda’s forces and Namor’s Talokan army.
One of the most talked-about moments in the trailer is the reported return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. The footage shows Thor reuniting with Steve, even though the character had previously gone back in time to live out his life with Peggy Carter in Avengers: Endgame. Steve is still worthy of Mjolnir, adding another emotional twist to the reunion. Exactly how he returns remains unclear, but the reveal has already become one of the trailer’s biggest talking points.
The trailer also uses Thor as a key voice throughout. Chris Hemsworth delivers a serious voiceover urging the heroes to set aside their differences and stand together against the threat ahead. His warning ends with a striking line: the team will need a miracle. That message helps frame Doctor Doom not just as another villain but as a larger, more complex threat. Co-director Joe Russo also reportedly described Doom as one of Marvel’s most layered creations and suggested he may be even more formidable than Thanos.
