Astronomer CEO Andy Byron resigned after a viral video from a Coldplay concert showed him embracing the Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot, during a kiss cam segment.

The company announced the resignation on LinkedIn, stating its standards for conduct and accountability were not met. The astronomer placed Byron and Cabot on leave after the video surfaced, and Byron’s exit followed an internal review.

During Coldplay’s concert on July 16, the kiss cam captured Byron and Cabot in an intimate moment. They quickly ducked for cover, sparking speculation of an affair since Byron is married. The clip spread rapidly, leading to memes and public scrutiny of Byron’s leadership at Astronomer, a data orchestration platform company. Cabot serves as Chief People Officer, raising questions about workplace dynamics.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin reacted on stage: “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.”

The astronomer placed Byron and Cabot on leave for an internal investigation. The company announced Byron’s resignation on LinkedIn: “The company’s standards for both conduct and accountability hadn’t been met.” The board accepted his resignation and will search for a new CEO. A fake apology statement circulated but was debunked by the company.

Byron has held senior positions at various companies, including Lacework, Cybereason, Fuze, BMC Software, BladeLogic, and VeriCenter, before becoming the leader of Astronomer. Additionally, Cabot serves as Astronomer’s Chief People Officer. Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, who is an Associate Director at Bancroft School, and they have two children living in New York.
