Assassin’s Creed Odyssey players increased 90% across Steam, PlayStation and Xbox during the 10 days after Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey opened, Alinea Analytics estimated.
Combined daily active users rose from about 122,000 on July 17 to 233,000 on July 27, according to Alinea’s July 29 analysis.
Xbox recorded the largest increase. Its daily player count climbed 134% from 36,000 to 84,000. PlayStation activity rose 94% to 114,000, while Steam registered a 26% increase.
The figures represent Alinea’s estimates rather than official player counts released by Ubisoft, Microsoft, Sony or Valve.
Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics, attributed much of the console increase to subscription access. The game appears in the Xbox Game Pass and the PlayStation Plus Extra catalogue.
Alinea estimated that the game sold about 400,000 copies through July 2026. Elliott said the limited sales movement showed that the film primarily encouraged existing owners and subscribers to resume playing.
Ubisoft also published social media posts linking its 2018 game to the film’s release. The publisher promoted Discovery Tour: Ancient Greece, a combat-free educational mode based on the game’s historical setting.
The game takes place during the Peloponnesian War, while Nolan’s film adapts Homer’s much earlier epic. Ubisoft has not announced a remake, remaster or other new Assassin’s Creed Odyssey project.
