TTP Cammnder, Asmatullah Shaheen, was ambushed along with his four associates in North Waziristan today. Accordingly to security officials, the TTP Commander was heading to the Afghanistan boarder, when he was ambushed in North Waziristan’s Ghulam Khan tehsil by unidentified gunmen.

Shaheen was made the interim chief of  the TTP’s shura after former TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud’s death in a drone strike last year.  He was  a ruthless commander who was involved in multiple attacks on security forces, including an attack on an FC fort in Tank in December 2011 in which dozens of security personnel were abducted, tortured and murdered.

He was as ruthless as Ahmed Shah Masood. He was the potential Ameer of the TTP. But Sofi Muhammad’s influence in TTP succeeded his son in law.

Some groups believes that he was student of Molana Sami Ul Haq.
