RMC Duntroon announced the award at the passing-out parade in Canberra on May 5, 2026. Abbas belongs to the Pakistan Military Academy’s 152 Long Course, according to ISPR.
Cadet Abbas, from Pakistan Military Academy’s 152 Long Course, received the honour at the passing out parade held in Canberra, Australia, on May 5, 2026.
According to ISPR, the award recognises the highest-performing foreign military cadet across all facets of training.
Australian Chief of Army Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, AO, DSC, reviewed the commissioning parade. Australian Defence Force officials, members of the diplomatic corps, Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Canberra, and families of graduating cadets attended the event.
The ISPR said the achievement reflected the professionalism, commitment and excellence of the junior leadership of the Pakistan Army.
Pakistan and Australia share a longstanding military relationship, according to the ISPR. Since 2009, 46 Pakistan Army cadets have graduated from RMC Duntroon, and since 2013, seven Pakistan Army officers have served as platoon commanders on its faculty.
The ISPR said this marked the 14th time a Pakistani cadet had received the distinction. Previous recipients include Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid Selhria Shaheed, Tamgha-e-Basalat, who embraced martyrdom in North Waziristan district on September 4, 2020.
