In a daring act of robbery at Karachi’s Faizan Attar Mosque in the Kareemabad area, armed individuals entered the mosque and managed to rob the muezzin, the caretaker, and a worshipper of their mobile phones and cash.
The incident has profoundly affected the local community, leading to a significant decline in worshippers. The mosque administrator reported that attendance has dropped sharply since the robbery. Where the mosque typically sees full attendance around Maghrib prayer time, now only three to four rows are filled.
The robbery has instilled fear among the local worshippers, prompting concerns over the safety of mosques, traditionally viewed as sanctuaries of peace and security.
In response to the growing unease, the Karachi Police Chief noted that the perpetrators often originate from inner Sindh and other regions, highlighting a broader issue of regional crime affecting the city.
