Mac users report Apple Intelligence storage readings above Apple’s published requirements on macOS 27 Golden Gate. MacRumors reported the findings on Wednesday.
According to the publication, macOS automatically downloads an artificial intelligence model when a compatible Mac connects to the internet. Users can choose whether to use the features, but cannot prevent the model download.
Apple’s support guidance lists up to 14GB of storage for certain Macs. That applies to models with M3 or newer chips and at least 12GB of unified memory. Other compatible Macs require up to 8GB of storage.

MacRumors said Apple’s documentation does not explain whether those requirements directly match the Apple Intelligence storage category in System Settings.
