TORONTO: Angine de Poitrine won both major 2026 Polaris prizes Tuesday, taking the Album Prize for “Vol II” and the SOCAN Polaris Song Prize for “Fabienk.”
The Quebec rock duo received the awards at the Polaris Concert & Award Ceremony at Massey Hall in Toronto on September 22. Polaris said the album award carried CAD 30,000, while the song prize was worth CAD 10,000.
Polaris recognises Canadian music based solely on artistic merit, without regard to genre, sales history or record-label affiliation.
The organisation said its 205-member jury of music media and industry experts selected the 2026 winners through several rounds of voting.
The victory marked a double win for Angine de Poitrine after the group appeared on both the 10-album Polaris shortlist and the five-song SOCAN shortlist.

The anonymous duo are known for performing in matching polka-dot costumes and presenting themselves through a deliberately fictional 333-year-old alien persona.
The Canadian Press described the awards as another milestone in the group’s breakout year. CBC recorded the ceremony for a future episode of “CBC Music Presents: Live At Massey Hall,” according to Polaris.

Angine de Poitrine performed “Fabienk” during the ceremony before two-time Polaris Album Prize winner Jeremy Dutcher and SOCAN chief membership officer Cameron Kennedy announced the results.
