Actor Angelina Jolie said her “fighting spirit” is returning after difficult years following her split from Brad Pitt, crediting her children for encouraging her to re-engage with work and travel.
Jolie made the comments in a Variety interview for her latest film, “Couture.” She said she “lost it for a bit,” but felt it returning as her children grew older.
“My kids are almost all 18, so now they want to see me travelling the world, they want me to get out and do things,” Jolie said while discussing her six children.
Jolie shares Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne with actor Brad Pitt. All six children have shown support for her after years of strain linked to the former couple’s divorce and custody battle.
The Oscar-winning actor also said her children know her more than anyone and still encourage her to return to parts of herself she had not felt free to pursue.
Jolie said she had considered focusing on directing and international work. However, she returned to acting because it allowed her to stay closer to home, work for shorter periods and support her children.
