AMC Kips Bay 15 will close in Manhattan, New York, by the end of 2026 after the property owner moved to end the theater’s lease, AMC confirmed.
The 15-screen multiplex at 570 Second Avenue has operated at the location since 1999. AMC took over the theatre in 2006.
The company said the closure resulted from the landlord exercising a contractual right to terminate the lease before its scheduled expiration. AMC has not announced an exact closing date.
The theatre is one of AMC’s larger Manhattan locations and includes an IMAX auditorium. Moviegoers will still have several AMC options elsewhere in the borough.

Those include AMC Empire 25 in Times Square, AMC Lincoln Square 13, AMC 34th Street 14 and AMC Village 7. The closure comes as AMC continues to adjust its theatre portfolio while investing in select locations.
AMC operated 524 US theatres as of June 30, 2026, down from 540 a year earlier, according to its second-quarter results cited in the source. Globally, the company had 845 theatres and 9,530 screens.
AMC has also outlined plans to invest USD 1 billion to USD 1.5 billion over four to seven years under its Go Plan. The program includes premium screens, upgraded seating and laser projection.
The company said second-quarter 2026 revenue rose 14.2% to USD 1.6 billion, while attendance increased 13.5% to 71.3 million.
