Ali Noor, musician and lead vocalist of the band Noori, has sent a legal notice to singer Maha Ali Kazmi following her accusations of professional misconduct against him. Noor took to social media platforms to address these claims, vigorously denying any wrongdoing on his part.
In the legal notice, Noor “unequivocally denies and strongly refutes all the alleged harassment claims” by Kazmi. The notice further states that Kazmi has made “groundless, false, and unsubstantiated allegations against Noor regarding an alleged incident of harassment while also directing verbal abuse” toward him.
Moreover, the notice emphasizes that the accusations made by Kazmi have damaged Noor’s reputation and business considerably and caused him intense emotional anguish due to her false and defamatory statements.
Noor’s legal team has instructed Kazmi to withdraw her “unfounded allegations of supposed harassment” and issue a formal apology to their client within three days of receiving the notice. Should Kazmi refuse to apologize or retract her claims, Noor intends to initiate civil proceedings for defamation, seeking damages totaling Rs65 million.
Earlier in the week, Kazmi shared her experiences of professional misconduct and workplace harassment within the Pakistani music scene with her Instagram followers through the Stories feature. During this exchange, she accused Noor of “harassment and professional misconduct” during a Coke Studio audition and attempted to “sabotage” her career.
Kazmi claimed that Noor contacted her through a Coke Studio employee to schedule an audition for Season 9 of Coke Studio in August 2016.
