In an unforeseen and horrifying occurrence, Alamgir Tareen, brother of Jahangir Tareen, the chief of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), allegedly ended his own life.

The tragic incident unfolded on Thursday, with Tareen shooting himself in the head, according to statements from both officials and family members.

In the early reports, sources within the police department suggested that the incident occurred at Tareen’s residence in the Gulberg region of Lahore. Jahangir Tareen himself later affirmed the police’s preliminary findings. While authorities have stated that further details will emerge upon thoroughly examining the scene, the incident’s shocking nature has already sent shockwaves through the community.

The Suicide Note and Alamgir’s Legacy

Upon further investigation, police disclosed the existence of a hand-written suicide note left behind by Alamgir. In the note, Tareen attributed his decision to take his life to an unnamed illness he had grappled with. Yet, in the wake of this revelation, friends of the deceased expressed their surprise, claiming that Alamgir had never discussed any such illness with them.

Alamgir, a 63-year-old bachelor, planned to tie the knot with his fiancee in December. A prominent figure in Pakistan, he leaves behind a rich legacy.

Alamgir Tareen was not just known as the brother of the IPP chief, but he had carved out his identity as a prominent businessman in South Punjab. As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans owner, he had a significant role in the sports community. He also operated one of the country’s largest water purification plants.

Alamgir completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Berkeley, before earning a master’s from the esteemed Yale University. As the Sultans’ official website stated, he was a “sports enthusiast who wanted to work towards establishing a solid platform for aspiring sportsmen and women and to provide them with the best possible resources to develop their skills further.” His vision and passion for data-driven strategies shaped the cricket franchise’s approach and will continue to be his legacy.
