Finance Minister Ishaq Dar stated that the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has handed $500 million to Pakistan’s State Bank (SBP).
In a Twitter message, the Finance Minister said, “Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has transferred today, as per their board’s approval, to State Bank of Pakistan/Government of Pakistan $500 million as program financing,
Pakistan is in the midst of an economic crisis and is still recuperating from severe floods that killed more than 1,700 people. As a result, Pakistan’s ability to satisfy its external funding obligations is becoming increasingly questionable.
