Akili McDowell, Known from ‘Billions,’ Arrested on Murder Charges After Houston Incident
Akili McDowell, an actor from ‘Billions’ and ‘David Makes Man,’ was recently arrested in Harris County, facing charges of robbery and murder following the shooting of 20-year-old Cesar Peralta on July 20 in a Houston apartment parking lot.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest. A judge has set McDowell’s bail at $400,000.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a conflict between McDowell and Peralta, which escalated into a physical altercation witnessed by several bystanders.
According to witnesses, McDowell shot Peralta and then fled the crime scene. The actor now faces severe legal consequences.
“This is an unfortunate situation, and I am in prayer for Akili and those impacted by this tragedy,” his manager, Jonell Whitt, stated.
Authorities discovered Peralta’s body upon arriving at the scene; he had sustained gunshot wounds and later died from his injuries.
McDowell is scheduled for arraignment on October 9 as the investigation progresses. U.S. authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit.
