Reality TV star Aaron Chalmers has criticized Tommy Fury for withdrawing from his scheduled fight against ex-UFC contender Darren Till on January 18, 2025, and has volunteered to replace him.
Fury, half-brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, cited concerns over Till’s adherence to boxing rules after Till hinted at using kicks in the boxing match. This leaves an opening at the Co-Op Arena in Manchester, which Chalmers is eager to fill.
With a 5-2 record in Mixed Martial Arts and five boxing matches to his credit, Aaron Chalmers is confident in handling the fight, a pay-per-view event on DAZN. “Tommy Fury has s**t his pants to fight Darren Till,” Chalmers declared in an online video. He added that he originally negotiated to fight Till in December before Fury accepted the match. With Fury now out, Chalmers is ready to step in.
“I was game to fight Darren in December, January, or February, so I will happily take Tommy Fury’s place and fight Darren Till. He can throw head kicks at me because he’ll get one straight back. No danger whatsoever,” Chalmers stated, emphasizing his readiness to fight despite not having competed in over a year.
Billy Joe Saunders, another potential replacement, expressed his willingness to fight Till, noting the financial appeal of such a matchup. Saunders, a former professional boxer with notable victories and a former WBO super-middleweight champion, mentioned to talkSPORT, “If he’s going to lose out on a few quid and there’s someone out there that wants me to step in, then obviously my phone’s there for a conversation to be had.”
