A party with public support doesn’t need crutches: Imran Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Chairman, Imran Khan, stated that despite the appointment of the new Chief of Army Staff has exacerbated his party’s problems.

The former prime minister asserted that even though the party had hoped for a shift after the change of leadership at the GHQ, “no change has occurred, and in fact, hardships have worsened” for the party.

In an interview with BBC Urdu, replying to a question about his “intention” to see the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, the PTI leader, stated, “I don’t need establishment; a party with public support doesn’t need crutches.”

He indicated that he desired the country’s elections and would speak with anyone to obtain them.

“When asked what I would do if the establishment stated it wanted to speak with me, I said that I am a political person who can speak with anyone except those crooks (PDM administration).”

Nonetheless, he emphasized that neither Shehbaz Sharif nor the army commander had ever been invited to meetings.

The PTI leader made his statements a day after Gen Asim Munir disclosed to the nation’s top business people in a speech earlier this week that Khan had requested a meeting with him but was denied.

The former prime minister said, “That didn’t matter to us; cases were filed against us during General (retired) Bajwa’s administration. When asked about the disposition of the institution following the change in military command. Never before had there been so much mistreatment of elderly detainees. In contrast to what we anticipated, there has been no improvement; our difficulties have worsened.

He said the ruling parties desired my imprisonment or disqualification for my election victory. “I won the 2018 election because most voters opposed the ruling parties. As a result of this inflation, these parties have subsequently perished.’

Imran Khan asserted that, following Parvez Elahi’s admittance to the party and election as its president, Shah Mahmood Qureshi was the second-highest-ranked member of the PTI hierarchy.

Khan stated that more than seventy cases had been filed against him; these weird matters would be settled as soon as they reached court.
