The Federal government’s decision to impose an additional five percent general sales tax (GST) on prices of petroleum products (POL) was challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC) earlier today.
The petitioner stated that increasing tax on POL products after reducing petroleum prices is injustice with poor masses.
“The government is not passing on benefit of declining global oil prices to the consumers in Pakistan,” he stated, appealing to the court to issue orders to the federal government for withdrawal of the tax.
