A three-day anti polio campaign has been started in 185 Union Councils (UCs) of Multan today (Monday).
During the campaign, .8 million children below age five would be given polio drops by 1880 polio teams comprising lady health workers, police, civil defense and officials of other related departments.
The teams will administer polio drops to the children at several places including bus stops, government hospitals and railway stations while the remaining children will also be vaccinated on the fourth day of the campaign.
The police have assured foolproof security arrangements for the safety of polio workers. Previously anti-polio workers have been targeted and killed by terrorists and as a result Pakistan has one of the highest population of polio virus sufferers in the world.
