Three civilians were killed in renewed shelling in the rebel-held city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine yesterday despite a ceasefire, the local authority said. Another five people were injured, city hall said in a statement today without giving further details.
Media correspondents had reported persistent shelling on Monday around Donetsk airport, where the Ukrainian military said it has fought off several assaults by pro-Moscow separatists.
